Wallace Collection A588 replica - DACL05

This sword is based on the A588 sword in the Wallace Collection in London.

We never managed to get full access to the original so relying only on pictures we had the odds against us for making a perfect replica but we managed to get pretty close anyway.
Apart for the overall shapes and volumes the weight for our example is only 20 grams off the original.

This particular style of decorations was quite complicated and laborious to achieve, with carved lined alternated to hammered dips. We tried to age it to look closer to the original but it was an arduous task to achieve while staing in the confined boundaries of an order deadline.
But not just the guard and the pommel have been a wearisome undertaking, the wooden grip is covered with its 8 strands of twisted wire formed from 22 single wires.

Price for a replica like this would be €4000
